Greetings and welcome to the Hallie Ford Museum of Art.
Since its founding the Hallie Ford Museum of Art has played a leading role in supporting artists and documenting the art history of the Pacific Northwest through exhibitions, collections and publications. This dedication to place is central to the museum’s vision, and has contributed to its unique identity and excellent reputation both regionally and nationally.
But beyond these important aims, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art is at its core about connection. For nearly 30 years the museum has served as a bridge between the academic world of Willamette University and the broader community. We connect art, artists and ideas with the public, and explore the many ways that our shared humanity connects us all.
It’s my hope that the museum is also a place of discovery, where visitors can expand their understanding of the world and engage with a wide range of human expression. These days, much of our life is conducted virtually, on screens and through the internet. At the museum we offer year-round opportunities to interact with tangible objects and to learn from real people – whether through exhibitions, a gallery tour, artist talk or hands-on program. These experiences bring people together, provide inspiration and space for reflection, challenge us, and ultimately make our communities stronger.
I’m honored to lead the museum and the dedicated team of professionals who make the Hallie Ford Museum of Art a truly remarkable place. Our museum staff, faculty curators and many student interns bring professionalism and passion to everything they do. We all look forward to seeing you at the museum soon, whether it’s in the galleries, at a lecture or reception, or as part of a class visit.
